The aims of the webinar are to help you to:

  • Describe the prevalence of iron deficiency (ID) / iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) globally
  • Understand the importance of ID/IDA for women in their reproductive years, including the impact on their quality of life
  • Manage ID/IDA – ‘filling the tank’ and not just ‘turning off the tap’
  • Describe when iron infusions are necessary
     
     

 

  • Dr Diana Mansour
    Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare, Newcastle upon Tyne
    Dr Diana Mansour is a Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare and Head of Clinical Service for Sexual Health in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She has been an Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University since 1997. In addition Dr Mansour is Senior Vice President and Trustee for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Diana is the Lead Officer for FSRH Clinical Standards Committee, Clinical Effectiveness Committee, the FSRH Clinical Studies Group and FSRH Journal. She sits on the FSRH Finance and Investments Committee and Board of Trustees. Dr Mansour is first author to over 90 peer-reviewed publications. She has recently co-written a textbook for general practice and RCOG trainees with Dr Laura Percy and it is entitled 'Contraception Made Easy'. Dr Mansour's areas of expertise include acceptability of contraceptive methods, non-contraceptive benefits of contraception, development of long-term methods of contraception, medical management of heavy menstrual bleeding, menopause and hormone replacement therapy.
     
    Dr Lindsey Thomas
    GP and Menopause Specialist, Sheffield
    Lindsey graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2000 and early on decided to pursue a career in General Practice. After completing her training, including working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2004.

    She has worked as a GP for the last 16 years, in a large inner city practice in Sheffield, where much of her time has been spent working in women’s and sexual health. She developed a specialist interest in the menopause, after witnessing many patients, and friends, struggling during this stage in life. She is a registered British Menopause Society Specialist, with their highest level of training; the Advanced Certificate.

    She is also an Accredited Menopause Trainer, helping others to develop a specialism in this area. She has developed an interest in women with an earlier onset of menopause but enjoys all aspects of menopause care.
