Consultant Urologist, Goring Hall Hospital
Mr Chris Down is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist at Goring Hall Hospital, specialising in urinary tract stone disease and minimally invasive urological surgery. He trained at King’s College London, graduating with distinction, and completed advanced fellowship training at the renowned Urology Department at Guy’s Hospital. His subspecialist expertise includes endourology, kidney and bladder stone management, and Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), offering patients modern, effective, and minimally invasive treatment options. Known for his compassionate, patient‑centred approach, he provides high‑quality care to patients across West Sussex.
Mr Will Britnell
Consultant Urologist, Goring Hall Hospital
Mr William Britnell is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist at Goring Hall Hospital and University Hospitals Sussex. He graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester and completed extensive surgical training across Birmingham, Warwickshire, and the Oxford Deanery. His passion for urology began early in his career and has taken him internationally, including teaching keyhole procedures for benign prostatic hypertrophy in rural Uganda. Appointed as a consultant in Worthing in 2019, Mr Britnell specialises in core urology, andrology, urethral stricture disease, and the management of conditions such as erectile dysfunction, kidney stones, and bladder cancer. He has published research on rare bladder diseases and dermatoses of the foreskin, reflecting his commitment to advancing urological care
Mr Adhish Avasthi
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Goring Hall Hospital
Mr Adhish Avasthi is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Goring Hall Hospital, specialising in upper limb and trauma surgery. He has extensive expertise in joint replacements, arthroscopic procedures, soft‑tissue surgery, and patient‑specific or navigated joint replacements. With a strong focus on minimally invasive shoulder and elbow techniques, he is dedicated to delivering excellent patient outcomes.
After qualifying in 2001 and completing a Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) in India, Mr Avasthi undertook advanced training across the south of England, including St Richard’s and Worthing Hospitals. He achieved MRCS in 2008 and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 2015, followed by fellowships in Advanced Trauma (Brighton) and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery (Manchester).
Alongside his clinical practice, he is an RCS‑accredited ATLS and BSS Instructor, actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
